Topic

We stand at a historic moment of linked crises. We face crises of exploitation and oppression, of environmental degradation, of white supremacy and systemic racism, of state violence and political collapse, of housing and food, and many more.

Around the world, people are creating new and reclaiming old ways of living in their communities– new ways of relating to each other, the land, and the earth that are based in cooperation, respect, and sustainability. They are fighting to create liberated zones that give glimpses of a better future.

The People’s Network for Land & Liberation (PNLL) is an emerging, BIPOC-led coalition of organizations that share a vision for a new world. Each works in its own location to build cooperative, regenerative and balanced systems. Together, the network ties together individual efforts, shares information and techniques, and inspires others.

About the project

As part of the public launch of the PNLL, I created an immersive storytelling mini-site that explains the main ideas behind the network and introduces the partners. Built on the StoryMaps platform, this site features dynamic graphics and interactive maps.

I created the story map for the People’s Network for Land & Liberation, with April Doner and in collaboration with Emily Kawano, David Cobb, and the PNLL partner organizations.
