About me
I’m a historian of technology by training, a public historian by background, a learning designer and systems strategist by trade, and a tinkerer by inclination.
I am dedicated to helping people understand and transform their world. My background is in public outreach, education, and academic research. I have an academic background in history, anthropology, political economy, and social thought to understand the changing structure of social systems. I have a pedagogical foundation in a variety learner-centered approaches, including hands-on learning, informal and museum education, interactive exhibit design, and radical pedagogy. I also have experience organizing projects and leading teams.
I have a PhD in the History of Science from Harvard and I’ve worked a variety of contexts. I grew up on a farm in eastern Pennsylvania. At times, I’ve worked as a laborer, organic gardener, rigger, house carpenter, and I built sets for tv and theater. I spent years designing, building, and installing museum exhibits, media projects, and educational programs.
More recently, my focus has been on building connections between organizations and the broader communities and creating democratic work processes. I was also a lecturer at Harvard University, teaching about classes about labor history, cooperative economics, and multimedia storytelling.
